Astad with his debut soloalbum "Sophomore Season", including features by Promoe (Looptroop), Sabac Red (Non Phixion), Sarah Ann, N.A.T.O., B.A.G.I. and the Pairamount. The rough and monumental beats are produced by DJ Smoove, Scratch Dee, Snowgoons, Steve Ršsiger and Crada (who recently made his way to the US-Billboards with D-Block and Kid Cudi). Over that bombastic sound and with his typical, razorsharp rapstyle, Astad is showing his storytelling ability but also talks reality about politics and social issues to make "Sophomore Season" an unconventional, headbanger Hip Hop album. Since his early teenage days, Astad had been fascinated by Hip Hop and rappers such as Nas, Rakim and Black Thought. Soon, he began to write down his own lyrics, leaving no doubt that he wanted to use Hip Hop`s mother tongue and it`s variety of expression to underline his energetic flow. After meeting his future crewmember Crada in 1999, they founded the Hip Hop band Sceptic and released their first album "State of Mind" in 2002. One year later they aroused national attention for the first time, when they brought out their EP "Status Report", which emerged in the studio of producer Scratch Dee. "The accurate, pure underground shit" (Juice Mag) was enhanced and in 2004 Sceptic released their album "Soulmates", including features by Raptile and Ill Grill. Reviews were speaking of "true poetry", giving Astad credits for being an innovativ, eloquent MC. The single "Hate You" even appeared on the Compilation CD of Juice Magazine. During that time, Sceptic played many liveshows, among others together with Kool Savas, Mellow Mark, Azad, Die Firma and Cappadonna. In 2005, already having the next album in the pipeline, Astad and Crada however decided to strike different paths. Astad soon concentrated on making a solo album, and although he had to face a lot of problems, thematized on "Sophomore Season", he never lost focus. He kept on working, got in touch with other MCs and in 2008 met DJ Smoove, an ambitious younggun producer who became his primary beatmaker. Finally the work has paid off, the result is there: Astad`s "Sophomore Season" is available for Download from December 1st 2009. Available on CD exclusive and only at rap.de. And the first thirst quencher is already coming on November 2nd 2009: The Single "Thirst" feat. Promoe, including remixes and all Instrumentals. |
